Think You're Tough?
With the advent of No Holds Barred fighting like the UFC & Pride FC, armchair fighters (like me)
are screaming at the TV telling these guys how to fight. Well, if you think you can do better, step up
. American Badass is a new show that will allow the average guy to fight one of the following guys:
Travis"ICE"Luter, Tra"TRAMA"Telligman, Guy Mezger (the Host of our show), Ken"The GOD FATHER"Shamrock, Alex"The BULL"Andrade or
Pete"The WEAPON"Sprat. Disregard some of the corny nicknames because these guys are
former UFC fighters and title holders. The details aren't finalized but you can go to their web site at www.americanbadass.tv and sign up. The official Badass truck will roll into your town and you fight
NHB advocates have wondered if this show will be bad for the sport, reducing it to a "barroom
brawler" mentality. Could be. We'll see. Until then, we can watch Fedor win the Pride tournament.
And The Winner of American Idol Is...
Well, it's over (Thank God!). And despite my prediction, Fantasia won. Will there be a next season? Of course. What would I change? Read my thoughts on the season.
And the winner is... Bill!
Trump Chooses His Apprentice
Well, the show's over and Bill is the new apprentice. Click here to read a review and recap of the last episode.
Trouble For This Season's Last Comic Standing?
Celebrity judges Drew Carey and Brett Butler have stated publicly that some of their choices were
overruled. Two comics chosen are managed by executive producer Barry Katz. Of course, denials are everywhere but when one comic managed by Katz, Ant was chosen, I'm totally suspicious. Ant
is the "typical" gay comedian. Flamboyant but unoriginal. Boring. The following quote is from Brett's official web site:
"We are bound legally not to say more than the following regarding our participation
allegedly 'judging' the comedians who were semi-finalists on the show 'Last Comic Standing': As panel judges, we can say that (a) we were both surprised and
disappointed at the results and (b) we had NOTHING to do with them. Period. No sh*&." - Brett Butler
What this quote says to me is that comedians who the judges chose didn't make it to the final cut
being replaced by people that the producers thought would be "more interesting". Visit Brett's web site www.brettbutler.com
The Littlest Groom - Fox's Meanest Show Yet?
When I first saw this show, I was intrigued. It looked interesting in the fact that it's a "Bachelor"
type show that features little people. I thought it would be entertaining until I saw the twist. The twist was that several attractive average sized women were added.
Keep in mind that all of these little women have been discriminated against all their lives. Many
guys who are into them wouldn't be "quality" people or they might have a fetish. Finding other quality little people is harder than normal sized people dating just because of lower numbers.
So when they paraded out the three average sized women, all of the other women started to cry.
This is their nightmare. This is what they've had to deal with all of their lives. Now they think
they're on a show where their size won't matter and then Fox springs this? Very uncool. I felt so
bad for them. This was such an incredibly mean thing to do. You can tell that the women are hurt and righfully so.
The only saving grace is that the bachelor, Glen Foster on this show seemed to be a nice guy with
a good heart. This could've turned out bad. Average Joe bad. But much to his credit, it was a
good ending. He chose Mika who was super cute and seemed like a lot of fun. If had chosen one
of the average sized girls, that would've been an incredibly bad ending. Not that he shouldn't, but
I'd hate to see so many sweet little women get their feelings hurt. And for all the little people watching at home, this might affect them too.
Is American Idol Too Mean Spirited?
This is the third season and we pretty much know what to expect. This is not a glorious
celebration of young talented people, this is a show where they make fun of the mentally challenged.
Is calling some of the contestants "mentally challenged" too cruel. No. Look at some of these
people. Any psychiatrist could tell that some of these people that they make fun of have very low IQs and some have actual mental problems. Putting them on TV to make fun of them isn't going to
help their lives.
These people have passed several auditions where they're stroked into thinking by the American
Idol staff that they have talent when they're just put through for us to be appalled by and make fun
of. But now is when the real show begins. We have the first group that have made it past Simon,
Randy and Paula. This is where it becomes an actual singing competition. Now, I believe it's fair to
make fun of these spoiled brats as they melt down on the public airwaves. I guess the thing I'm objecting to is some of the obviously disturbed people being exploited.
American Idol, Again!
Here we go again... Another season. This is definitely the best part where the judges destroy
young people's dreams. Of course, the dreams destroyed should be destroyed. After two seasons you would think that more people would have a clue about their lack of talent. Nope.
So, I'm tuning in tonight, I hope you have something better to do. http://www.idolonfox.com

Classmates TV - Closure is Overrated
I'm flipping channels and I come across this travesty of a show. This is the most depressing thing
I've ever seen! People who haven't grown or moved on since High School seek to either reunite with a friend or seek to confront someone from their past. Click here to read more
Is the O.C. Any Good? YES!
I didn't want to like this show. I mean, they they put the word "The" in front of O.C. (short for
Orange County). All the locations are local to me so that's a nice touch. They did a segment right
in my neighborhood which I wish I was there for. But back to the show... It's a typical fish out of
water story with a kid Ryan from the wrong side of the tracks (Chino, CA) being taken in by a rich couple. Of course Ryan befriends their slightly nerdy son Seth and then their neighbor's daughter
Marissa. We all have seen this type of show before but for some reason all the characters are
likable. Even Marissa's thug boyfriend turns out to have a conscience. I like the characters and
found myself caring about what happened to them in the first episode (very rare). They even put a lot of my favorite music in it, from Jeff Buckley to Ben Harper. They also made Phantom Planet's great song California the theme song. Is this Masterpiece Theatre? No. But it is a great one hour
diversion from real life. Click here to visit Fox's official O.C. Website.
Futurama Gone For Good?
Well, Futurama has been one of my favorite animated comedy series ever! But now it looks like
it's final episode will happen in 2 days (Sunday, August 10, 2003). Watch it! I'm going to buy the DVDs because they have commentary tracks on every episode. For those of you who haven't
heard these, they are an additional audio track you can choose... Click here to read more.
Well, LCS is Over and WHO Won?
Pulling off an amazing upset, Dat Phan won the show! The finale show was spent on looking back
at the comedians' time in the house. Funny stuff, especially with Vos and Mordal. Then they did
the elimination from the votes with only Ralphie May and Dat Phan left on the stage. Ralphie was
confident he was going to win. Dat didn't even think he could win but... Yes, he won. Oh well.
He wasn't my favorite. I also wish he didn't have to repeat material. I'm sure Dave Mordal could've come up with some new material but he was unfortunately eliminated. This was an
anticlimactic ending for me. I'll be looking forward to seeing Vos and Mordal if they ever travel to
Los Angeles. I'll also be looking forward to the many TV shows that all of these talented comics
will eventually end up on. I'll also miss Eddie Pepitone. He really should have made it to the house! An interesting side effect of the show is what showed up on the message boards. There were some heated words about Dat Phan. Click here to read more about Last Comic Standing. Click here to visit NBC's official Last Comic Standing web site.
The Last Comic Standing Finale is Tonight!
Alright, the last episode was just strictly performance. Raplphie May was clearly the audience
favorite. His set was tight and he built the audience up to a frenzy. I was a little bummed that Vos'
set didn't seem to get a great response although TV has been known to manipulate things to seem a
certain way. Phan did pretty much the same act. Tess came out strong but I'm not sure if she was
strong enough to win. Cory's set was great. She's won me over with great material but it may not be what the general audience wants.
Look for tonight's material to be even better. The veteran comics will step it up with new material.
Phan will impress me if he's capable of doing an original set. This is going to be a great show! Click here to read more about Last Comic Standing. Click here to visit NBC's official Last Comic Standing web site.
Dave Mordal Loses To Dat Phan on Last Comic Standing?
This was one of those shows that made me curse out loud. I mean, everyone knows that Dave
Mordal is ten times the comedian that Phan is. Even Phan knew that he should have lost. Maybe Dave underestimated Phan but he could keep going for a full set where Phan's asian sellout jokes
would wear thin. Phan went for the easy laughs. At least Margaret Cho had style and told stories when she talked about her upbringing but Phan's were lousy, obvious jokes with no creativity.
This is the same easy style of comedy that Dana Carvey talked about when he used to do celebrity impersonations. He would talk about how easy it was to get a laugh and then launch into an
impersonation of Jimmy Stewart having sex.
Dave Mordal was creative. I don't think he does "jokes", instead he tells stories and then does
the classic, revisiting earlier themes. Mordal was awesome and I would love to hear more of his
material but if Dat Phan makes it to the finals it will be a travesty. We can only hope that Rich Vos will punch Phan in the neck. Click here to read more about Last Comic Standing. Click here to visit NBC's official Last Comic Standing web site. Click here to visit Dave Mordal's web site.
You Should Watch Last Comic Standing Even Though The Guy Who Should Have Won Just Got Eliminated
Alright, I'm into another TV show. Last Comic Standing is a survivor type show for unknown (or
not famous) comedians. Some I've heard of or even seen before but they're all competing for a Comedy Central special and a development deal with NBC. It's interesting because there are some
people on the show that aren't funny at all. And one of the best comedians that seems natural to star in a TV show, Rob Cantrell, got eliminated. He probably was the nicest guy on the show who
had the most likable personality. I could picture him having his own show more than any of the other comedians. Although I like Rich Vos and Dave Mordal (one of those guys will win), Rob
seemed a natural for a TV show and I'm sure he's already in negotiations. Click here to read more about Last Comic Standing. Click here to visit NBC's official Last Comic Standing web site. Click here to visit Rob Cantrell's web site.
What Peter's Watching On TV
Here's my updated TV schedule of what I'm wasting my time watching. Is there any good show that I'm missing? You hate one of the shows I watch? Post it on the message board.
Sunday: Futurama, The Simpsons, Alias, Dragnet (Gotta support Ed O'Neill), Malcolm in
the Middle (sometimes) and Oliver Beene which is like the Wonder Years, only funny.
Monday: Boston Public, The Practice, Everwood. I had the TV on one day and Everwood
came on. Now I usually hate shows like this, but I liked the characters so much. They're all good people, not just good and bad. Flawed, but human.
Tuesday: American Idol, NYPD Blue (still a good show but they need some new plot lines). I don't watch 24 but everyone I know does.
Wednesday: American Idol (gotta find out who gets kicked off!), Wanda at Large (the funniest woman around).
Thursday: Friends, Scrubs (It grew on me), Will & Grace, Good Morning Miami (I have no excuse for this one).
Friday: Hack, John Doe, Ed. Ed is a great show but it may not return next season. Go to www.stuckeyville.com for information on the show and how to save it from a watery grave.
Saturday: Sometimes I watch SNL.
Peter's Weekly VCR Picks
Howdy folks! When I work, I watch tapes of stuff I tape during the week. Here's my schedule:
Sunday : 7:00 Fox - Futurama
Sunday : 8:00 Fox - The Simpsons
Sunday : 9:00 Fox - Malcolm in the Middle
Monday : 8:00 Fox - Boston Public - It's nowhere near reality but a great cast and interesting
themes. I relate most to the Harry Senate character. I would be like him if I were a teacher (I thought about becoming one) sans the breakdown.
Tuesday : 8:00 NBC - Just Shoot me - Two words, David Spade.
Tuesday : 8:30 ABC - According to Jim
Tuesday : 9:00 NBC - Frasier - An intelligent comedy.
Tuesday : 9:30 ABC - Less Than Perfect - This comedy has potential with an incredible ensemble cast but I wish it were better. I watch for Andrea Parker.
Tuesday : 10:00 ABC - NYPD Blue
Wednesday : 8:00 NBC - Ed - Damn, I'm old enough to be a cast member (I look like kind of like an ethnic gang member straight out of central casting, how cool would that be?). Ed is a nice show
with good characters. Easygoing fun.
Wednesday : 8:00 ABC - My Wife & Kids - Two words, Damon Wayans.
Wednesday : 8:30 ABC - The George Lopez Show - Fun comedy, that's getting better.
Wednesday : 9:00 ABC - The Bachelor - A guilty pleasure.
Thursday : 8:00 NBC - Friends - Who isn't watching?
Thursday : 8:30 NBC - Will & Grace. I'll admit that I'm in love with Megan Mullally. Yes, that's
Karen Walker, not Grace Adler. I saw Megan on Letterman and her real personality was great.
Friday : 9:00 CBS - Hack - An ex-cop who kicks as a cab driver helping people out. A great dark
Other : Monk - This is my favorite new show. I think it's moving to Monday. Tony Shalhoub is perfect as an obsessive-compulsive Columbo type.
Did They Really Think We Wouldn't Find Out?
With all the reality shows on TV and the publicity whore contestants, you would think that people
with shady pasts wouldn't participate for fear of the information about their past coming out... not so.
Evan Marriott - Joe Millionaire: Some catalog & modeling stuff - no big deal.
Sarah Kozer - contestant on Joe Millionaire: Bondage videos galore! Yikes!
Frenchie Davis - contestant on American Idol: Porn pictures. She blew a good chance at finishing high on the show.
There are even more of these people who's pasts are going to be discovered. So, if you've ever
done anything that you don't want people to know about, don't go on these shows! One great web site that always busts these types of people is the smoking gun. I've mentioned them before, they
catalog criminal records of celebrities (they are open to the public). Click here to visit their site and
read more about Evan, Sarah and Frenchie (also Michael Jackson and Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens).

American Idol Review
Here's a quick review of Fox's hit show American Idol. If you're not watching it, you're missing out! Read it.
In Defense Of Simon
OK, something has been pissing me off lately (nothing new). Every talk show is going on about
how mean Simon Cowell of American Idol is. Sure he's mean from time to time but the difference
is that he's being honest. He isn't sugar coating his answers like Randy Jackson or Paula Abdul.
They don't want to hurt anyone's feelings but instead they fuel a lot of these kids' pipe dreams. The
ones that didn't make it to this point have no chance of making it music as a pop star (maybe as a
backup singer or songwriter... maybe...). That's no big deal, very few people make it that big. I
doubt anyone on the show will ever be huge. One of the reasons Simon is hard on the competition
is that he has to sign them and work with them after. Paula and Randy have nothing to gain by being
truthful. They tell everyone how great they are. This sucks. Paula seems like a genuinely sweet
person that knows how rough auditions really are. Paula didn't have a good voice but she still sold
a ton of cds. But she was an exception. Randy is also a great guy but I feel he does a disservice by
being too nice sometimes. In the last round I feel he gave very accurate criticisms (and no one booed) even worse than Simon.
In the end, who's criticism would mean more to you? The people who tell everyone how great
they are or the one who is so picky that he barely likes anyone. You can tell that Simon's opinion is
the only one that really matters to the contestants no matter what they say or how much they claim
to hate him. How should you judge it as the audience? Ask yourself truthfully, "would I buy this
guy/girl's CD?". Really. Not download from the internet but buy. If you wouldn't, then that
person doesn't deserve your vote. One last thought, since Simon is the main guy Randy and Paula are hurting the contestants by telling them to ignore what Simon says. These contestants need to
think about the criticism and then come back better. They need to know that there is truth in what
he says, no matter how mean he seems. If they can take the criticism, address the issues and come back having worked on their problems, Simon would be blown away. Also, a positive attitude and
good work ethic is what record producers and A&R reps are looking for! Anyway, the show is still great and the two co-hosts are more annoying (although I like Ryan). Got an opinion? Message board.
WILL ANYONE MISS POLITICALLY INCORRECT?
Last week Bill Maher hosted the last episode of his show Politically Incorrect. Always bringing up
sensitive topics and having celebrities comment, the show was interesting and at times tense. I'm
surprised no one ever threw a punch during the whole show's run. Personally, I didn't care what a
supermodel has to say about Bush's latest press conference (or anything else). Ratings were never
that great and perhaps Maher's comments pushed the envelope too far that the network didn't feel
like keeping the show around. I think pushing the envelope and always questioning authority is
healthy. It makes this country great that we have free speech. The loss of Politically Incorrect may
not be felt immediately but I think it will be reflected in the crass avalanche of bland non-offensive, whitewashed sitcoms and talk shows. Yawn.
Anyway, Bill ended his show with four of his friends and favorite guests; Ann Coulter, Christopher
"Kid" Reid, Arianna Huffington and Michelle Phillips. It was the standard stuff, talking about the
show's demise. A few read some nice things about Bill & his show. Then in a surprise move, Maher got down on one knee in front of Arianna and told her that she's his best friend and
proposed... an offer for her to be on his next show. Yawn. Anyone who knows how Bill feels
about women (he's a misogynist) knows he would probably never get married (as if he'd be a picnic
to live with). I wish Maher the best. Unfortunately for him, he's too controversial for a sitcom or
regular talk show. I'm not sure if he has acted much. Possibly a cable talk show? We need someone out there like him but will he get another shot? Will you miss him? Discuss on the message board.
Another "Making A Teen Band" Show
American Idol: The Search for a Superstar, this Tuesday on Fox is yet another in a long line of
"Making The Band", "Pop Stars" type shows where you get to see the whole process of creating a
boy, girl or boy/girl band. The best part is the first part, the audition. You get to see spoiled bratty
kids sing and get humiliated and then eliminated! Yay! Some of them are so bad that you can't
imagine who told them they could sing! Their parents? Some of the girls are so attractive that you
can see why no one ever criticized them before (they're getting a valuable life lesson here). Those
are the ones you just love to watch as they get rejected. What, you say? I sound bitter. Hey, if
you've been on any auditions, you know what this is like, rejection is just part of the job. But these
kids think waaaaay too much of themselves and they need to get a dose of reality. In all fairness, I
have seen a few that didn't get chosen that I thought were superior to some who ended up on the show. Anyhoo, tune in for some good shadenfreude!
I just got word that one of my favorite shows, Futurama, has been cancelled! Go to www.petitiononline.com/futufu/ and sign the online petition to keep Futurama on the air!
Celebrity Boxing Returns With Some Serious Mismatches
Expect some minor celebrities to be getting hurt this Wednesday on FOX! They're doing a
disservice to boxing having such huge mismatches in weight and age. Here's the lineup :
CARD 1: Olga "Olia" Korbut versus Darva Conger - Olga was in the olympics in what 1970? I
still want her to KO Darva "I want to marry a millionaire and pose in playboy" Conger.
CARD 2: Ron "The Pulverizer" Palillo versus Dustin Diamond - Ron is almost 50! Dustin is much
bigger. If Dustin wanted to be a jerk, he could really hurt Ron!
CARD 3: Manute "The Sudanese Freedom Fighter" Bol versus William "The Refrigerator" Perry -
You might think The Refrigerator would have the advantage but I predict Manute will use his reach advantage and surprise everyone!
CARD 4: Joey "The Gladiator" Buttafuoco versus Joanie Laurer - Joey's old, Joanie's a woman. I still want to see the woman formerly known as Chyna to destroy Buttafuoco! Post your predictions on the message board.
David Blaine Returns With Another Insane Stunt
Press Release from ABC, The show airs on Wednesday May 22 : David Blaine, known for his
headline-making daring and his death-defying feats of physical and emotional endurance, will again put his life on the line. He will attempt to balance on a circular platform, only 22 inches in diameter,

Additionally, viewers will be treated to an amazing new collection of spectacular, jaw-dropping

New AbFab Episodes!
The popular British comedy Absolutely Fabulous has returned with new episodes on Comedy
Central. If you've never seen the show before, it's a shockingly offensive and totally hilarious
comedy about two self-absorbed and over-indulging women. This is a must see for women (and men) who like their comedy with an edge. The first three seasons are available on video. The Ellen Show?
Someone e-mailed me and asked if I liked The Ellen Show. Well, I'm not afraid to admit that I
watched it and thought it was funny. She's surrounded by a great supporting cast consisting of
Martin Mull, Cloris Leachman and Jim Gaffigan. If it survives a little longer, I'll write a positive review of it.

Was it where someone got married? A new child? A death? Well there's a site that chronicles TV shows and the moment they started to suck.
www.jumptheshark.com breaks down most popular TV shows into the categories that changed
them. Everything from births, deaths, singing, Ted McGinley and more. It's a great, fun site that is guaranteed to make you overanalyze the current crop of sitcoms.

The Return of the Sci-Fi Monster Show

No Temptation Island On Valentine's Day?
Happy Valentine's Day everyone, or if you're a cynical bastard like me, it's just another Hallmark
-created holiday. Did Fox executives think that Tempation Island shouldn't be shown on the day of
love? Such hypocrisy. If they air the show they shouldn't be ashamed of putting it on Valentine's.
Anyway, a review of the show is coming and I can already say that it's more fun to watch than any of the other "reality" shows out there.
Network Execs Screw With New Shows
Yeah, big news eh? I often wonder what goes through the minds of TV executives about this time
of year. They sink in tons of money into promoting a new show, hire famous actors but if things
aren't amazing by Christmas (or sooner) then the shows are cancelled. For what? More reruns of Two Guys, A Girl & A Pizza Place (or whatever it's called now). Cheers didn't get great ratings
at first but it caught on. But now, shows don't get half a chance.
Word is that The Michael Richards Show has already been cancelled. I was just getting into it. I
tire of Richard's Kramer-esque character but they wisely surrounded him with other great actors like William Devane and Saturday Night Live's Tim Meadows. It could be a great show.
Minor tweaking is also done. Some characters "disappear" or are written in more (or less). Cursed is now The Weber Show (After star Steven Weber). In my opinion it should be The Chris
Elliot Show but what the hell do I know.
What's my point? I just wish networks would give some shows (with the exception of the Geena Davis Show) more time to gain a following. It can be done! Let's face it, they don't have anything
better to put on TV so let us get used to these shows. Friends sucked when it started but the
characters got better. Give the shows a chance. Don't make me turn to the WB. Please.

The Geena Davis Show Fails To Impress
How is it that a show with such a great cast could be so bad?
Baby Blues, An Animated Comedy For The Whole Family!
Finally, an animated show that the whole family can watch. Oh yeah, it's actually funny too!
Splender Performs on The Tonight Show
One of Peter's (that's me) favorite bands, Splender performed their hit I Think God Can Explain.

Andy Richter Leaves Conan O'Brien
Andy Richter, sidekick to late night host Conan O'Brien leaves the show to pursue "other opportunities". Let's hope he has more career success than David Caruso.
The night was spent showing clips of Andy during the past years. There were a lot of funny bits but of course the best was one last Andy vs. Conan Staring Contest! Click here for pictures of Andy's last night.
Ani Difranco performs on the Tonight Show
Ani Difranco is a great live performer! If you haven't heard of her, she's a fantastic singer/songwriter who plays acoustic guitar amazingly well. Click here to see pictures and download an MP3 of Ani Difranco on The Tonight Show 04/21/00
Pets.com sues writer on the Conan O'Brien Show
The web-based pet store Pets.com has stated that their Sock-puppet spokes-thing has been
defamed by Conan O'Brien's Triumph "the insult comedian" dog puppet. For those of you who aren't familiar with Triumph, he's a German Rotweiller that was "discovered by Conan O'Brien
during the talent portion of the Westminster Dog show". As a recurring guest on the show he comes out and puts celebrities in their place ending his rants in his catch phrase, "for me to poop on".
As of late, Triumph has put down the Pets.com puppet saying that he's ripping off Triumph's act.
(man I'm writing this as if Triumph were real). NBC and Conan were not named in the lawsuit, only Robert Smigel, the voice of Triumph.
I've got to say that I've loved Triumph since the first time he came on the Conan O'Brien show. I
loved his antics at the Westminster Dog shows the past two years and I loved it when he insulted David Hasslehoff who didn't know what to make of the angry rubber dog puppet. When I first saw
the Pets.com puppet, I thought it was very reminiscent of Triumph so I figure this lawsuit won't go
anywhere. C'mon, we're talking dog puppets here! Anyhoo... this can only bring more publicity
for both Pets.com and the Conan O'Brien show. Let's hope Triumph doesn't back down since this could be the source of some great comedy for the show. Click Here for more Triumph Pictures.
