RIP - Ronnie James Dio

As a young boy, I would spend hours listening to metal and learning many songs including songs by Ronnie James Dio on guitar. I spent untold hours on my guitar playing and Dio definitely is a part of my musical psyche to this day. It was sad hearing of his passing because he was great to his fans and one of the best voices of metal music. RIP.

There are some who really think that Yoko Ono is a creative genius but I think she's just horrible. Watch this video because you need to see just to see how bad a TV performance can get. The band which includes her son, Sean is decent but her vocals, if you can call them vocals, are awful. Click here or on the picture and fast forward to the next to last segment. Much like the first time you saw "Faces of Death" you won't be able to forget this.
I just remembered that Paul McCartney told a story about meeting Yoko on the Howard Stern show. He said that he thought Yoko was nuts and sent her to meet John Lennon as a joke but they ended up dating. The joke's on Paul and all of us I guess...

Video: Four Hands on the Guitar Done Correctly

Not only is this a great example of two people playing the guitar but it's way better than all the other videos for the following reasons.

Their both excellent guitarists.
The second guitarist isn't just adding a simple bass line.
They cross over so they're playing the same part with one picking and the other person fretting.
They're doing it in front of a live audience. It's much easier to do this in your bedroom or house with no pressure.
And the most important reason this is the best is because it's a guy and a girl. I've always wanted to try this with someone else but I don't want any of my guy guitarist friends in front or worse, in back of me.

I recently became a huge fan of the IFC show, Z Rock. If you've never seen it, it's about a struggling rock band who plays kids parties during the day. It's a great adult comedy that any music lover will love. Here, in a live performance, the band plays Rush's Tom Sawyer and they do a great job!
