  Do you remember the group Living Colour?  No not the TV show starring Keenan Ivory Wayans but the innovative rock band (later more avant/rock) that burst onto the scene in the late 80's.  They lit up rock radio with songs like Cult Of Personality, Glamour Boys, Type and many more. For a while they were everywhere, on Saturday Night Live, Arsenio, The Tonight Show and the list goes on.  But like many bands they were lost among the late 90's grunge trend which didn't have any room for them.
  Fortunately, Corey Glover the singer has released his first solo CD on LeFace records. This is a nice change of pace for Glover who shows his R&B roots. The songs are sensitive and well written but don't worry, there's still a few barn-burners like Do You First, Then Do Myself and Sermon.

  The majority of the CD focuses on Glover's R&B side. Songs like Hot Buttered Soul and One feature old school instrumentation like Hammond organs and Fender Rhodes electric pianos adding a nice gritty texture to Glover's amazing tenor voice.

  Unfortunately for Glover, this style again falls between the cracks.  Too R&B for rock radio and now that R&B/Urban stations are cluttered with the rap persona du jour, he seems lost in this world too.  This is such a shame since this CD is such a beautiful array of rock and old-school songs that many listeners out there would definitely enjoy.
